What is the investment personality test?

A free investment personality test that starts from what you actually own instead of a questionnaire. Enter your stocks, ETFs and cash, press one button, and it answers three questions: how much risk this portfolio is really taking, what kind of investor that makes you, and what you could do about it now.

How it works

  • Your holdings — search Korean stocks and ETFs by name, or overseas ones by ticker, and enter a share count or a current value. Won and dollar cash count as assets too.
  • Two years of real prices — about two years of daily closing prices are fetched for each holding. Korean and US markets keep different holidays, so prices are lined up by date, and overseas holdings are converted to won at each day's exchange rate. For a Korean investor, currency moves are part of the risk.
  • The scorecard — it measures volatility, the worst past drop, how much the holdings move together and how concentrated the money is. A broad index fund holding hundreds of companies counts as many separate bets, not one, so a plain index-and-bond portfolio isn't mistaken for a concentrated one.
  • Your investor type — the result is one of eight types, such as the Vault Keeper, the Steady Sailor, the Growth Seeker, the Income Gardener, the Hidden Tilt (diversified in name only) or the All-In Gambler.
  • What to do now — your mix is compared with a conservative, balanced or aggressive target allocation, and the gaps become at most three actions with amounts. Suggested products are examples of broad, low-cost funds.

How to read the result

The dial shows how much risk you take, not how well the portfolio is built. A high-risk portfolio can be cleanly constructed, and a low-risk one can be poorly built — five overlapping bond funds, for example. The type describes the shape of your current holdings, not you as a person, so it changes when your holdings do. If the AI explanation is unavailable, the risk score, type and action list still appear.

Is my portfolio saved?

There is no login and nothing is saved to an account. Your list is remembered in this browser only, so you can come back to it, and "Clear all" removes it.

Is this investment advice?

No. It is a reference built from past prices. Past volatility does not predict future returns, and the example products don't reflect your taxes, income or time horizon.

Which markets are supported?

Stocks and ETFs listed on the Korea Exchange (searchable by Korean name), US and other overseas stocks and ETFs (by ticker), and won and dollar cash.

Why is a new holding sometimes slow?

The first time a ticker is used, two years of its prices have to be fetched. After that it comes back quickly.
